Duvall Team Feature: Staffing and Services Manager, Anthony Tipton

This week we are featuring Anthony Tipton, our staffing and services manager, as part of our Duvall Team Spotlight series. A local Charlestonian, Anthony is celebrating 10 years with us this year! He has worn many hats during his time here at Duvall Catering & Events, from working in the warehouse, serving, bartending and managing events to his current role as staffing and service manager. We are excited to share all the new things we learned!

What is your dream job?
I’d like to study volcanoes specifically underwater volcanoes. I think they are some of the most powerful and interesting formations on the planet.

What are you known for?
Bringing a good time and telling things like they are.

What do you like to do in your free time?
All of the ways I stay in shape are my favorite things to do! I enjoy surfing, rock climbing, and swimming in the ocean; I also like trying all kinds of new food and being on any boat!

What is your favorite thing(s) on our menu?
I’m a person that usually orders 2 entrees, so the surf and turf station is probably my favorite.

What do you love most about your current position and our industry?
I’ve always enjoyed the freshness of every day. It always a different event, and the constantly changing challenges is what has kept me interested.

You step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?
Pay off my parents’ house and then buy a boat that I can travel and live on. I don’t think I’d stop working, I’d be too bored.

What food are you? Why?
I’ve always enjoyed the fact that you can put anything in a taco, it’s awesome! I think I’m the same way sometimes, I can mesh with a lot of different ingredients.

What was the first sign you encountered that you were in the right industry?
When you get to the end of a 20 hour shift and you’re still excited to come back in the next day, you realize you are a particular kind of person.
